Along with the great summer weather comes many outdoor jobs that have to be done. It takes a lot of effort to keep your lawn and the exterior of your home appearing it's best. Some things can be done seasonally, but many jobs must be carried out on a weekly basis.

You particularly need to work on your lawn consistently to keep it looking green. If there's been a harsh winter, there may be patches that need to be re-sown with grass seed. Using a good fertilizer can help your grass grow thick and healthy. And, weed killers can give your grass a manicured look.

Having flower beds in your yard can increase the beauty of your home. But, they also create places where weedeaters often can't be put to use. The addition of landscaping pebbles will reduce the time that you'll need to spend weeding flowers. They can also add a decorative look to your lawn edge and can be purchased in various colors.

To protect your decking it should be given a good clean at least once every summer. Leaves that are lodged in crevices can remain dampand cause rot and must be cleaned out. A pressure washer is the easiest way to properly clean any dirt that is trapped. If the surface is worn, refinish the deck and add a water resistant coating.

While solar lighting fixtures are practically maintenance free, they do need to be cleaned. Any solar panels need to be wiped off to help them perform at their best. And, you should remove the glass globes and clean them well to allow the light to shine through more clearly.

The exterior of your house should be checked each summer and any chips or loose bits of siding or bricks should be repaired. Rain seeping behind any loose pieces of siding or cracked bricks will cause the wooden foundation to rapidly rot. Mildew or stains can be removed with a special solution, or often just with soap and water.

A swimming pool can produce hours of fun and relaxation, but it can also mean hours of extra work. Water tests should be done on a weekly basis and any extra required chemicals need to be added as quickly as possible. A pool filter should be used on a daily basis to extract any dirt that will clog up your pools filter.

While it may be alright to allow your ouside summer tasks fall behind now and then, don't let them lapse for too long. Things that are neglected take much longer to get done when you do get around to it. And, the summer months are for enjoying the outdoors with your family, not toiling all the time.
