I have worked in the blinds industry for over three years now at all levels and can offer some advice.
I would suggest you buy made to measure blinds as these will offer a superior fit and are always much better quality than mass produced blinds that you have to cut down yourself. You will always compromise on colour, fabric choice and fit with this style of blinds. You should also consider the amount of time it will take you to fit the blinds if you have no experience.
Made to measure vertical, roller, wooden blinds and so on are available from retail outlets but I always recommend you deal with a company that will not only come and measure the windows professionally but also be willing to spend the time showing you the fabrics in your own home. This is important as different lighting can often make the blinds look different colours. I do not understand why anybody tries to buy blinds from a shop, as they leave themselves open to making a mistake.
