Using Feng Shui Candles the Right Way PDF Print E-mail

If you are thinking about adding some feng shui elements to your home, you might have heard some people talk about feng shui candles. What exactly are feng shui candles and what are they for? How should they be used and are there certain places where using them is not real feng shui? Most feng shui candles don't come with instructions so it can be confusing knowing exactly how they should be used in your home.

Feng Shui Candles and the Five Elements

The five natural elements are wood, metal, water, earth, and fire. The teachings of feng shui say that all rooms of your home should have a balance using these elements. Do you know what this means?

Simply put, you can think about how different elements either feed or destroy one another. Wood feeds fire, but water destroys it. Earth feeds wood, but metal destroys that. Destruction is not something thats taught in feng shui, but balance is. So, if you have a room that has very strong elements of earth, such as the warm tones of your living room or bedroom, you may want to introduce some balance by bringing in the element of fire " and this is where feng shui candles come into play. Obviously you cant set up a bonfire in your home, and not every room has a fireplace, but candles are a small and affordable way to accomplish this.

Energy and Feng Shui Candles

Because fire is an element that is associated with strong feelings, such as energy and perseverance, you can use this element in a room that is dull and lifeless. Likewise, if you need to energize your bedroom, feng shui candles are a great idea. Fire has been an element that has fascinated man for ages. A sense of power and energy has long been associated with fire. Do remember that to be on the safe side all fires need to be put out properly and never left unattended.

It is a good idea to use feng shui candles when you want to create energy in any room, such as the dining room or family room, when you want the family to be open and to gather together. The fire encourages everyone to have energy in their thoughts and conversations.

Where Not to Use Feng Shui Candles

Because fire is such a strong element, it does need to be tapered somewhat. If you have a large fireplace in your home, you are probably already bringing in enough of this element already. Be wary of overdoing it by lining your fireplace mantel with your feng shui candles. Instead, keep these candles for a place in your home thats far enough away from the fireplace that the two will not compete with one another.

It is best not to use feng shui candles in childrens' rooms. Make sure they are securely placed in a holder and not close enough to pets or small children to be turned over.

By applying all these principles when considering the use of feng shui candles, you can then begin to enjoy the energy and vitality that they will bring to your home and your life.
